The “Money at Counter” sports activities betting location opens in downtown Denver – CBS Denver

DENVER (CBS4) – As sports betting in Colorado grows beyond a billion dollar industry, a physical location has emerged that will help bettors be much closer than the mountain game casinos.

“We're closest to sports betting. It's called cash at the counter. And if you are a FanDuel customer, you have the option of depositing any amount of cash. It will be deposited and withdrawn straight to your account, ”said Noel Hickey, owner of Celtic on Market.

Celtic (now in its second location in downtown Denver) has hosted off-track betting for decades through a partnership with Arapahoe Park in Aurora. When the opportunity arose to work with FanDuel, Hickey seized the opportunity.

"It's been growing by the week, every week, and in fact FanDuel has made different offers at different times," Hickey said. "It brings a lot of new customers here."

The idea is to allow people to deposit cash into their accounts and then place bets on their phone. The withdrawal process is shortened from potential days to just a few minutes.

"People are paid in cash, which means a lot more to them than a PayPal or a wire transfer to their bank account," Hickey said.

He says it's like an ATM that just deposits and withdraws, but Hickey hopes this will mean more business for his bar and restaurant. He envisions an even more popular cash desk when capacity constraints are relaxed and fans return to the sport at the nearby Ball Arena.

"This is where people get really excited because we can count them $ 100 bills and they can put them in their pockets and they feel like they have won," said Hickey.
