KUALA LUMPUR: A police investigation paper opened after viral videos surfaced online of patients who allegedly played in a Covid-19 quarantine center.
Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof (picture) said a policeman from Datuk Abu Bakar Baginda Police Station filed a report on the matter.
"An investigation paper has just been opened to facilitate further investigation and improve patient control at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) quarantine center," he said when contacted on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Several videos have been shown on social media and WhatsApp showing activities believed to be gambling in quarantine centers.
One of the videos allegedly recorded in the MAEPS hall showed several men sitting on a bed playing cards while placing bets with cash.
Another video shows several men playing cards at a table and placing bets on food.
