Penn National Gaming Inc. announced Monday that it has entered into a 20-year strategic partnership with Capital Region Gaming LLC, which operates as Rivers Casino & Resort, to provide a second skin access to Penn Interactive, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Penn National for the New York mobile sports betting and iCasino market, subject to law and government approvals.
"Having potential access to one of the most lucrative sports betting markets in the country was a key priority for our company," said Jon Kaplowitz, senior vice president of interactive gaming for Penn National, in a statement. “We are confident that the New York State Assembly will follow the leading income-generating states that allow multiple skins for mobile sports betting. A state the size of New York guarantees open competition and a free market approach. "
Penn Interactive currently offers online sports betting in two states – Pennsylvania and Michigan – and plans to run the Barstool Sports mobile sports betting app in at least 10 states by the end of 2021. In addition, Penn Interactive launched its iCasino with Barstool brand in Michigan on February 1st.
"We are very encouraged by the initial results we saw in Michigan as we registered over 48,000 new customers in the first 10 days of operation and had total sales of $ 27.5 million," said Kaplowitz. “We remain very confident that, based on the strength of the Barstool brand and media resources, we can gain significant shares in new markets. This enables us to take advantage of the significant cross-selling opportunities offered by Barstool Sportsbook, iCasino and our loyalty program audience. "
The Rivers Casino is located in Schenectady, New York.
