Resorts World has a video lottery in the mall
A gaming company plans to open an arcade with video lottery terminals in Newburgh Mall.
Resorts World Catskills was approved by the state in 2019 to open an electronic slots facility in Orange County. The company is owned by the Genting Group based in Malaysia. In other states, “satellite casinos” have been opened in shopping malls to attract customers to retail stores.
Genting said it plans to submit plans for its video game facility to the city of Newburgh soon. State Senator James Skoufis said in a statement that the project will "revive a dying mall" and provide "hundreds of permanent, well-paying jobs with a focus on recruitment in the Newburgh City".
